                                      About RMI

Reaching Maximum Independence, Inc. is a private non-profit corporation that provides high quality residential and vocational alternatives in San Antonio and suburban neighborhoods for persons with developmental disabilities and related disabilities (organic personality disorder, mental health disabilities, seizure disorder, etc.).

RMI was originally founded through The Arc of San Antonio in 1982 by a group of seven families who wanted to create independent living options for their adult children or siblings.  We were separately incorporated in 1988 and obtained our 501 (c) (3) in 1990.

RMI has quadrupled in size over the last ten years, and now serves 90 people with disabilities through group homes, semi-independent apartments, foster homes and weekday Life Enrichment program.  Four of our original 7 residents are still with us.
