Your undesignated contributions to RMI help us to purchase needed equipment, resources and cover program expenses that are not covered by any other funding sources. Below is a description of some of the projects in RMI's budget this year. Thank you in advance for your support!
Vehicles - $69,000
Our nursing staff have a great responsibility for meeting the health and wellness needs of the residents who depend on RMI to help them stay as independent as possible. We all know that good heath is a defining factor in the level of independence any one of us can achieve. Contributions totaling $23,000 are needed for this purchase.
At RMI, we're GROWING! This is very exciting for RMI as we reach into new neighborhoods to bring programs and services into the areas where people are already living. We've just opened up a second day program called the Alamo Heights Adventure Club and where there is growth, there is always need. In order to transport the individuals participating in the AHAC program, we need to purchase a van with a lift. Contributions totaling $ are needed for this purchase. Contributions totaling $46,000 are needed for this purchase.
Client Data Tracking Software - $9,000
At RMI, there are over 100 precious individuals whose quality of life depends on our staff’s ability to keep accurate and timely records. A new and updated information tracking system will allow RMI to document and monitor health indicators for our clients in real time. For RMI and other services providers, it is more important than ever to find more accurate, effective and cost efficient ways to provide quality around-the-clock care. System features that will help improve the quality of care we are currently able to offer are the web-based storage of information, alert system, back-end time/date tracking system and information sharing capabilities.
Resident Activities - $22,546
Your donations help RMI to increase opportunities for meaningful creative activity for Adults with intellectual disabilities through innovative structured programming. Our goal is to increase independence and improve the quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities by increasing opportunities for meaningful, creative activity for Adults with intellectual disabilities through innovative structured programing and increased volunteer engagement.
Some activities our residents participating in on an annual basis are:
Semi-Independent Living Program Annual Overnight Trip (20 residents) - $5,000
Annual Group Home Day and Overnight Trips (6 Homes) - $12,000
Special Olympics Participation (10 residents) - $720
Annual YMCA Gym Membership - $1,117
Annual Zoo Membership & Activities - $1,195
All-Can-Ski Experience (15 residents) - $750
Monthly Witte Museum Special Exhibits (21 residents) - $1,764
Group Home - $314,500
In 2012, RMI celebrated 30 years of service to the San Antonio community. As we grow older, so do some of our assets and it is time for us to begin upgrading our aging homes. Over the years, we have acquired 6 residential houses that are home to 33 men and women with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Over the next two years, RMI plans to transition residents from two of these homes into new accommodations. Plans are in the works, but additional funding is still needed to purchase one new home this year and one in 2015. This move is in line with our value for quality of life and quality care for those who depend on RMI for increased access to their greatest level of independence possible.
Equipment for Day Programs - $6,000
By providing a wide array of activities from educational, physical, cultural and more in a variety of formats like games, toys, cooking projects, worksheets, activity boards, etc… we are more likely to hit on an area of interest that will captivate and engage our participants in learning skills, behaviors and patterns that will help them reach their maximum level of independence possible.
