RMI's mission is to assist children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach their individual maximum level of independence.
RMI was originally founded through The Arc of San Antonio in 1982 by a group of seven families who wanted to create independent living options for their adult children or siblings. We were separately incorporated in 1988 and obtained our 501 (c) (3) in 1990.
RMI has quadrupled in size over the last ten years, and now serves over 140 people with disabilities annually through group homes, semi-independent apartments, foster homes and weekday Life Enrichment program. RMI serves another 4,500 individuals through educational outreach and community engagement programs.
