Volunteer Opportunities

Do you have a special skill, interest or talent that you can share once a week, once a month or even once a year?  RMI welcomes volunteers who want to make a difference in the life of someone with a developmental disability.
Volunteer Qualifications
Volunteers must be 18 years or older and able to pass a criminal background check.  Click on the following to download copies of the RMI Volunteer Application , Abuse and Neglect Policy and Photo Release.

Project Enrich Supporter (2.5 hour increments, once-a-month)
Monday - Thursday, 9:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. | 8900 Starcrest, San Antonio, TX  78217
Provide support for our day habilitation participants, teaching and helping them to make items sold in the Project Enrich Store.  Items include hand-made paper, soap, bath salts, heat bags, greeting cards and more.  Spend 2.5 hours each month assisting individuals creating treasures to Enrich the Lives of Others...  We ask you to make a one-year (12 mo) commitment, coming on the same day each month (ie, 1st Monday, 3rd Thursday).  Some training/orientation required for this position.
 
Life Enrichment Provider (1-3 hour increments, one-time or repeat)
Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | 8900 Starcrest, San Antonio, TX  78217
Enrich the lives of those participating in RMI's Day Programs by spending a couple of hours in activity.  You can come
and perform by playing an instrument, singing or putting on a drama, play, puppet or magic show.  You can teach our participants a basic skill through cooking, reading or a math project.  Spend an hour in the garden weeding, planting or cultivating a worm compost.  You can bring in games, cards or come out to play sports.
 
Adventure Chaperone (2-3 hour increments, one-time or repeat)
Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | 8900 Starcrest, San Antonio, TX  78217
Join our crew of 6-9 individuals for a fun outing about town.  It could be the zoo, a park, a camping trip, a museum, a restaurant, the grocery store, or any place you could imagine. On our outings, participants in our Day Program are either out having fun or are on a learning adventure.  You can assist staff in ensuring that all are able to participate, stay safe and enjoy the experience.  Some training/orientation required for this position.
 
Clerical Support (1-5 hour increments, as available)
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. | 6336 Montgomery Drive, San Antonio, TX 78239
We're always in need of those special people who like to help out with the work around the office.  As a clerical support volunteer, we'll schedule you to come in and help out with newsletter mailings, data entry, shredding, typing and other tasks that are so supportive to the staff as we work to meet the needs of those we serve.
 
Special Events Volunteer (various increments, one-time as needed)
Volunteers who are not available during the weekday can help out with evening and weekend outings or assist at one of our fundraising events.  Check our Events page and RMI calendar for special volunteer opportunities.
