Welcome the new President of RMI!
We’d like to introduce you to the incoming President/Executive Director who will begin at RMI on Monday, August 1st. With a BA in Psychology and MA in Counseling, John Schwab also brings to RMI a long history in the IDD field. Well known for his 14 years of service as the Executive Director of the Unicorn Center, John brings a vast array of experience from direct care service to advanced leadership, marketing, job development and casework to the table. Throughout his work, Mr. Schwab has dedicated himself to improving the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. John looks forward to working with a dynamic organization and is eager to get started. We hope you’ll join us at the 6th Annual Champion Award Luncheon to meet the new Director!
Who We Are
Reaching Maximum Independence, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the San Antonio area live and work as independently as possible.
What We Do
RMI's mission is to assist children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach their individual maximum level of independence.
Our group homes, supported apartment programs and foster care services allow individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to choose the residential option that best meets their needs.
Weekday Life Enrichment and Adventure Clubs
RMI's Life Enrichment Day Program and Alamo Heights Adventure Club provides opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities to learn, work, volunteer and have fun as an active member of the community.
Educational Outreach & Community Engagement
RMI welcomes opportunities to share information or provide expertise on issues that affect people with developmental disabilities. Our professional staff are available for resource fairs and presentations to educators, healthcare professionals, human service providers and families.
